Timely reminder of Community Commandment #8:
8. Warnings MUST BE PLACED on any fic involving non-consensual sex or character deaths. As with spoilers you can't be too careful with warnings, so use them.
8a. Yes, mentioning a character death in the warnings can blow your plot surprise. Life is hard, suck it up.
Fic that contains either character death or non-consensual sexual activity and doesn't include a proper warning will result in the author being asked to add the warning. Noncompliance will result in the deletion of the post and banning of the author.
Anyone who thinks being forced to use warnings is oppression of their rights and will destroy their integrity as an ARTIST probably wouldn't be posting here anyway, but still. It's called decency and common courtesy and in light of discussions about rape and rape culture going on around lj these days, and the tidal wave of stories from women who have been raped or assaulted or simply live in fear of the reality of the threat, anyone who argues that it's only the victims' responsibility to be careful not to expose themselves to triggering content with no help from anyone else in the world is, IMNSHO, an ass.
As usual, if you don't like this policy, no one is forcing you to post here and there will be no hard feelings if you take your fic elsewhere.
(btw, I also updated the Commandments spoiler policy. Since the show is now officially off the air, spoiler warnings for specific episodes are no longer officially required, though I think most people are in the habit of mentioning where their fic is set due to the drastic changes of the last seasons.)
