The last thing I ever expected was to be able to find a way out of Quor'toth because of some of the actual creatures who lived here. I knew that Connor had been trying to get information out of the slugs, but I didn't know how much he actually had until he came and said the slugs had told him the way to get out of this world. At first, I wasn't sure what to make of it all but he kept insisting that they knew where to lead us. I didn't have any reason to trust the slugs, but Connor hadn't exactly just asked them nicely.
I didn't have any reason not to trust Connor on this.
He might not have known what was on the other side of Quor'toth, but at the same time he trusted me when I said it was better than here. He trusted me when I said how there was so much more for him to see on the other side.
So we went off on the trail and for a while I wasn't sure if it was going to lead anywhere. It went on for days and a few times I was pretty sure Connor wasn't so sure about it either, but we kept on. I trusted that he knew what he was doing. It's almost funny how much we both depended and trusted each other. He was only a kid, but he was so much more than that. The demons and creatures here feared him more than they did me. He was the Destroyer and when he said he'd found us a way out of Quor'toth after years of living here, I wasn't going to doubt him.
Following slugs was easier said than done especially when they were trying to escape both of our senses. I don't know how long exactly it took us to find them, but we did finally. They had set up near one of the smaller streams and were all over the rock formations. I'd never seen so many of them. We'd gotten this far and now we were so close to going home.
