I watch Arrow but I'm afraid that I don't like it as much as you do. :(

I like the actors for the most part, but, and I admit this is my own problem, I can't get over the fact that the show has Green Arrow just blithely killing people. He's a DC comics hero, for God's sake; they're pretty big on the "don't kill criminals" stance and when they have to compromise this ideal it's usually a big deal (like Green Arrow getting arrested after killing Prometheus in the comics); I get they're trying to make the show darker and more realstic, but the Christian Bale Batman movies (which tried to be as realistic as possible) never had Batman just killing people. And what pisses me off more is that he only kills the henchmen , never the rich masterminds behind the plots. What. The. Hell.

Laurel's (why is she going by her middle name on this show anyway) character seems to be written kind of inconsistently. In this episode had her hopping from one viewpoint ("I have to punish criminals by legal means") and ("I am disillusioned with the law, vigilantism is probably the way to go now"). Also, she seems to have completely lost her martial arts skills from the other episode. I like Kate Cassidy, Ruby was one of my favorite characters on Supernatural, so I'd wish the writers would just make her Black Canary soon, give her more to do.

There are things I like about this show though. I actually like Thea a lot, and the writers got me interested more because they said they're thinking of making her Speedy eventually. I like Dig too; I felt bad every time Ollie ditched him or knocked him out to do the vigilante thing, because the guy was only trying to do the job he's being paid to do. I love the flashbacks to Ollie's time on the island, and I"m actually curious to see where that's going. I like the references to the wider DC universe (Slade Wilson's mask,Bludhaven, etc). And John Barrowman of course.

I should say that I am enjoying it so far, I'm just not in love with it.

Ahhh okay, I probably should have prefaced all of this post by saying that I've never read the comics! So a lot of this info is new to me, but I can definitely understand where you're coming from. I hate being bummed by adaptions. (Like The Walking Dead. I wouldn't say that I was completely in love with the comics, but jfc sometimes the TV show really bugs me.)

Maybe this isn't a good thing for me to admit, but I hardly bat an eyelash at him killing people! Maybe it's because I just came off of playing a whooole lot of Dishonored and the two things are blending together, lol. I guess at least he got arrested last week? I'm interested to see how that plays out.

What is Laurel's first name? (lol my comic ignorance is showing) I do agree about the inconsistency. And yeah, while she was getting attacked in the jail, I was totally waiting for her to start kicking ass! Like, where did that go? I didn't like Ruby (or 2.0), but honestly it was so long ago I don't remember why! I'm doing a spn rewatch with a friend... hopefully my opinion will change, cause I like Katie Cassidy a lot!

So was the island thing canon, or is it specific to the show? Honestly I don't know much about Green Arrow other than what little I saw on Smallville lol. (Which is pretty much limited to.. he's really rich, he was played by Justin Hartley, and there was that whole thing with Chloe lol. (and I feel pretty bad because the only reason I ~ship~ them is because I use them both as Alistair/Kallian refs XD)) But anyway, yeah, I can't wait to find out all the details of what happened on the island.

And oh, okay, what about that nerdy IT girl? Is she in the comics? lol. I feel like you're going to be getting a lot of these questions from me x)
