Mod Post - hansofoundation.org and the phone number

May 04, 2006 13:48

We've gotten a LOT of posts lately in regards to the new developments on The Hanso Foundation's website and the commercial that aired last night on ABC. Before you post, PLEASE check the community for entries that discuss these topics. That includes last night's episode post as well. Don't just skim the entry itself, read the comments. Because when we ask people to read the latest entries to make sure nothing is repeated, some of them don't listen?

Yes, yes, the internet is srs business. We just want people to check before the post. Is that so horrible?

its a lot more time consuming to read the comments and some of us dont have the time to read every single one
its a lot easier to skim our friends page and see something interesting

Anything major involving the site we accept. I'm talking about little details, like people asking what the phone number was and stuff.

gotcha i thought u meant passwords and stuff like that

Well, the main password has been posted multiple times, so we're more likely to reject that than a new one.

However, it's really a lose-lose situation. If it gets posted, some people are like "wtf already posted where are the mods!" and if it isn't, then we get complaints from people who say it wasn't posted. :/

Ugh, it can be so frustrating to read the episode posts because of that! The same person will post every 89 seconds with something new, and just say "OMG Sawyer/Ana WHAT??" and that's it. How about some substantive comments, people? There should be a rule that no one can comment until the episode is over.

I kinda like going on here and seeing something posted at 9:55pm that simply says "WTF" or "Holy shit!"

It cracks me up!

maybe we can make a new discussion post just for the Hanso site stuff?

There's an idea! We could consolidate everything. ^.^ It would make everything easier to find so as to not miss any of it. Hmmm...or maybe could tag then with 'hanso site' or something.

Some way of linking them all together or consolidating them would be great, essentially.

Does the community need more mods?
I love this community but its so frustrating going to the trouble of writing up an article (like I did when the ad aired in the UK+Ireland) only to get a mail 10 hours later saying sorry but someone else in the queue wrote this.

That happened to me too. I spent over an hour making a transcript/content breakdown of the hanso site and it was rejected because it was already posted. Tough when I had written it and submitted it, it hadn't been.

We always accept the first post submitted, and even though we do have enough mods, there are certain days when things get backed up - or, there's so much being posted that we stagger it. (Though that hasn't been possible this week, with so many posts and the LJ downtime.) So, sorry for the inconvenience, but to be honest that's the downside to having such a large and sporadically productive (and yet repetitive) membership.
