Mr F started our design business several years ago. He does most of the work. Everything I've done so far has been pro bono. I don't mind that, but it's starting to get out of hand. I struggle to bring up the money issue, because I believe in the various causes. It was like that when I first started at the GR newspaper. When my future editors told me my salary, I told them I would work for free, and donate my paycheck to a worthy cause. I enjoyed the work so much.
But one needs to be paid to survive.
There's got to be a balance between the two. Keeping the passion alive and make some money doing it.
Why is this so difficult?
