Great Marx quote that jives with book: "The World is Flat"

Jun 27, 2005 23:03

Currently, I'm reading John Fowles' classic, "The French Lieutenant's Woman," and came across this great quote by Marx:

But the more these conscious illusions of the ruling classes are shown to be false and the less they satisfy common sense, the more dogmatically they are asserted and the more deceitful, moralizing and spiritual becomes the language of established society.

-- Karl Marx, "German Ideology," (1845-1846)

As I've been saying ... the yin and the yang ... the balancing act of all opposites ... our socioeconomic world is feeling the shift, the need for balance ... and it ain't gonna be painless for us in the U.S.

We humans may hate change, but we gotta let go of our ironclad grip on obsolete thinking/ways of living together in this world.

if you're interested in more of this line of thinking, go to: ScienceFriday's 6/24/05 show.
