Well, Reveals have happened, and I'm now free to talk about what I wrote. My assignment, fairly amusingly and not very surprisingly, was for
liadtbunny, who had requested various lovely things, including Adam Adamant Lives!. And you'll remember that this time last year I was all aglow with just having discovered the series and what a joy it was, and now I've wound up all aglow again with having reminded myself just what a joy it is. If you're a Classic Who/Avengers etc. fan you should head off to watch it now.
It's quite a tall order to write, but a pleasure, despite all my moaning. (My moaning was entirely about how awful I felt and the upcoming time limit for a story that KEPT GROWING and not the assignment itself, which was great.) It took me a while to get the final story idea - it was nearly all about evil horoscopes or something, but I think the eventual 'fatal chamber of horrors' + old Tv/film riffing was the better choice. Liadt had left so many great prompts in her letter, so I tried to include at least bits of as many of them as I could, particularly Georgie being the one to get taken in by an evil lady for a change. (Ish). And then I just went for as close to a missing episode as I could get. The illness and time limit combined did mean that the entire last 2/3rds of it got written in random sections out of order and stitched back together, and I'd like to have done a little more of the seam-stitching here and there, but otherwise, I eventually wound up pleased with it (and much relieved).
However, writing a missing episode could only mean one thing: I had to write a limerick! The TV show writers had a special person who came in and did the dreadful limericks for them; I did not. Still, I did it. I couldn't manage a second, but Simms got a theatrical pun instead.
Anyway, enough of the waffling, here's the fic:
The Maze of Terror (7274 words) by

Fandom:
Adam Adamant Lives!Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Adam Adamant & Georgina Jones & William E. Simms
Characters: Adam Llewellyn De Vere Adamant, Georgina Jones, William E. Simms, Original Characters
Additional Tags: Yuletide, Hijinks & Shenanigans, Case Fic, Humor, 1960s
Summary: Georgie’s received the invitation of a lifetime, Simms is starstruck, and Adam is on the trail of an unspeakable villain who’s terrifying people to death - literally!
I also did manage two treats, one which I wrote when the letters went up, but nearly didn't get to type up in time (and I'm still a little unsure whether or not I should have waited till NYR - it works okay, but it could still use some polishing and sanding down here and there), which was for The Moonstone, and it's been so long since I've even looked at the book; it was another joy to get reacquainted with Sergeant Cuff again. (You know, if anyone wants to do any more of those pro-fanfic spin-off series, they might want to consider leaving Sherlock alone and picking up Sergeant Cuff. He's wonderful.)
The Lower Atherton Mystery (1541 words) by

Fandom:
The Moonstone - Wilkie CollinsRating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Richard Cuff, Original Characters
Additional Tags: POV First Person, Detective Fever, Yuletide Treat
Summary: There's a case to be solved, roses to be grown - and Sergeant Cuff finds himself being immortalised.
(I did at one point want to make the reporter female - change Frederick to Frederica - but again, I did not have the time, because Sergeant Cuff's attitude would have been a little different, as might my OC's. But I do regret that, because I think it would have added a much needed something to it. Maybe I'll remix the thing for NYR... Or maybe someone could remix that for Remix and NYR, lol.)
Plus, I so wanted to write Heyer this year, but oh my, it was the year of Heyer anyway, and I merely added this tiny Madness ficlet for one of the less popular novels. The recipient left a really fun prompt I'd wanted to write and I re-read the book, but again, this was the most I could manage, but I think full length Heyer might have been too much for me even at my best as yet!!

And thanks to Liadt, who wrote my Madness SotT/Ten Stupidest Things fic,
How Now Brown Monkey! (I knew it was you! In fact, I strongly suspected it was you when I saw someone had posted SotT in the first place. You're a star! ♥) And my gift proper was written by DeCarabas, whom I don't know and maybe doesn't LJ, but oh my, they so made my Yuletide with that wonderful piece. (I'm feeling guilty enough about requesting a super-super-obscure and uncool fandom and making someone write in it; I'm now also eyeing the other two comments on it, because it kind of looks as if they haven't actually got what's going on. I said it was subtle; I didn't think it was that subtle, but maybe it was to someone who doesn't know all the stuff I wrote in my letter? (Or maybe it was just the other aspect they chose to comment on??) DeCarabas got so much of that in, really quietly and non-crackily, it was awesome. (But, okay, what Dr Seward thinks he is doing is not necessarily what he is doing/what's really happening. It's brilliant. I love it to pieces. Usefully ambiguous headcanon totally accepted. ♥)

Summary: On rational explanations.
I guessed two of Liadt's fics, and one of Paranoidangel's, and otherwise, I was as clueless as ever, but it was fun. Here's to the last of the reccing and commenting - and to the New Year's Resolution Collection 2016! (I am resolved to write one this year; last year I didn't and I wished I had.)
