I wants to squish you for all of these answers!! Some of the pairings I don't know (I've gleaned what I can from your posts, but my knowledge is still sadly lacking, eep!), but I enjoyed reading them because I have just a touch of that familiarity.

Lemme tell you right from the start: lightbulbs are an actual Romantic Thing. It's true. In a metaphorical way. And yet a practical one in the first question. So there you go - Electric Light=Romance!!

Dude. I do not know how I was happy with ANY Fandom until DW, because this answer is so, so damned relevant it makes me wanna cry. I swear, there are TONS of good writers in OUaT Fandom...for Gen. Rumbellers get it wrong. SwanQueen shippers get it wrong. May have to wade in with Completely Wrong Dark!Slashyness just to show these goofballs that if you are going to get it Wrong THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. Deliberately. Whole-heartedly. And fergoshsakes can we try to keep the characters IC, the stories interesting and LEAVE THE DAMNED CHARMINGS OUT OF IT?! *Sigh*

Oh my. Sorry about that...

*ahem*

Meme is fascinating, awesomely answered and makes me wanna see Sapphire&Steel more than ever...also makes me wanna go back and watch Five's Era again for the sheer Snark-Factor. *Fans self*

*SQUISHES YOU*

Oh, yes! I was being slightly flippant, but it's an incredibly well-constructed set of eps, S4 of Public Eye. That scene between them comes exactly in the middle of the episode, Mrs Mortimer is the only person in the ep who treats Frank as a person rather than as a prisoner on parole, and the light bulb thing is not only metaphorical, but it also involves them touching each other, making her not only the first woman he's spoken to properly in a year, but also the first woman's he's touched in that time, and therefore what follows may or not be partly in reaction to that. And a lot of the other eps, and especially the never-said-out-loud relationship between them is exactly as sharply written. It's not subtle, but it is exceptionally well-constructed. (I feel like sitting there taking notes from the Roger Marshall school of how-to-write-for-TV while watching some days.)

*cough* Sorry. It's very hard not to write PE essays! /o\

Oh, let me love you back! I know a friend and I have this problem with OUaT fic - I lean towards Emma/Regina when I'm not being gen and she Rumbelle (when she's not being gen) and it is so hard to find anything that well... I think you have it covered above! It's good to hear that other people feel the same as well. Well, not good; it'd be better if there was a whole stash of awesome, complex shipfic, but you know what I mean!

*hugs you back*

Actually, I love the essay! Gives me just that touch more background and helps me see it. And yeah, especially for the time period, that was some SERIOUSNESS right there! Wow...

It would be awesome, but every fandom seems to have its flaws (except for DW and any flaws DW has can be hand-waved with a cryptic timey-wimey remark). Just wish OUaT's didn't lie in the fic-ships...where the biggest strength SHOULD lie. Arrrghhh.

Something...should be done about this. I am undecided as to what/how, though, as I'm sure any fic I contribute could likely be a smear across the face of OUaT fandom and lynching (as in being-lynched) has never been what one would call a hobby of mine.

Aw, glad you didn't mind the essay. I went on about Public Eye for about six months solid, back in the day, and no doubt annoyed everyone! I try to be better. If you are interested, though, I did make a fanvid to explain everything better, and that worked and I shut up a bit after that! :-)

I'm sure no fic of yours would be that! Honestly, your writiing is much too good to ever be regarded as a smear. Especially not in a popular fandom with plenty of terrible writing going on!! ;-p Weird comments are probably a given, though - even I got one for my strange Emma/Regina fic I wrote. The thing with OUaT seems to be that if you write for a juggernaut pairing (pretty much Emma/regina or Rumple/Belle, you get attention, but if you write gen or any other ship, pretty much it's *crickets* and you can write whatever you want!)

LOL! Bless you for being so awesome. :D And you are utterly correct about OUaY Fandom and its proclivities. Oi. Need to read that SwanQueen fic you wrote, btw. May be 'strange' but I'm quite sure I'll love it, even as I do not actively ship it. *Beams* Such a rarity to come across good, shippy fic in that fandom and I need a good dose to cheer me up. *Laughs*

Thank you for being so lovely about my own fiction. *Grins* I must say though, when one is contemplating writing wrongwrongwrong slashy darkness just to throw a monkeywrench out there (crickets or no), that would be considered a smear by most of Fandom. I could only hope it would shake a few people up, if only to SHOW me up, lol!!

*HUGS*

Oh, I think there's always a corner of fandom that likes a bit of slashy wrong darkness! Especially the good stuff. ;-)

Ha, the fic in question is here, if you really want to see it. I'm not sure it's all that good (it was quite fun to do, but I think I fell somewhere between two poles on it, if you know what I mean), and it's not really all that shippy, either. I set out to write ship fic and wind up at still incurably gen by anyone else's standards.

LOL!! True...very true. There is always room for wierd, twisted and flatout WRONG (now with extra slashy-smexy therein). I should be ashamed of how that thrills me, but I am incapable of that when it comes to darkfic it seems. *CACKLES*

Ohh! Ficcy, tho'! And YOUR ficcy (which is always awesome!) Yup. THERE.
