It sounds like a sort of House Of Cards series, good casting choices BTW.

That was my reaction, too; when I read Standing between Hallam and his goals: several cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister himself. One by one, they'll fall..., I started hearing the House of Cards (UK) theme in my head.

I've never seen it, though, so it's not deliberate. I imagine this probably wouldn't be much like it, really, because I didn't think HoC ended with a (sort of) civil war and a dictatorship being established, but maybe it does.

No it doesn't - it does involve the King being deposed in favour of his son though.

I don't know about Michael Kitchen, but *I* was not impressed by him being booted off the throne.

(Actually, it's To Play the King, sequel to HoC, which goes that way. I think you might enjoy HoC and TPtK - Ian Richardson's terribly devilish and nasty in it! And it's got Susannah Harker in it too!)

As for D&R - I like!

 Still, they say a crown is not everything it's cracked up to be, so maybe he got to have fun afterwards while his son did all the boring stuff? ;-p

House of Cards is one of those things that I always think I should watch one day and never find enough of an excuse to, but I imagine one day will actually come some day...

Thank you! :-)

Well his son was a kid - and you know how well THAT always goes (historically speaking, at least!)

Well I hope one day comes soon.

Welcome! *snuggles*
