In which the universe hits upon a million to one chance and the Duchess of Avon has an accident to her carriage. With highwaymen, Leonie not being fond of people call themselves Avon, the Doctor and the Duke of Avon vying for omniscience and Giles still managing to get bashed over the head.
This is the reason
dbskyler still hasn't got that crossover story yet & I was a bit preoccupied yesterday. I posted a drabble on
dw100 that involved Four and Leela running into Leonie, Rupert Alastair and the Duke of Avon (from Georgette Heyer's These Old Shades.
infiniteviking read it as Avon (from Blake's 7) and Rupert Giles. All in 18th C England. Naturally, talk of crossovers ensued. But I kept the Heyer characters in, because it was much more fun that way. I'm not sure what the point was, but, er... (Well, I would have had one, but my Blake's 7 watching is still limited to mostly some chopped up episodes from S1, plus now 2 uncut episodes and 2 more uncut from S2, so I can't really claim to know where that Avon is coming from or going to yet. And it would have been easier - and had a better bit for Justin - if I hadn't discovered that I gave away my copy of These Old Shades. I had to use the sequel to get the voices right. What was I thinking?)

Talking of which, and I cut this as it's mainly for
velvetfascism, if she's around.
I've now found four uncut episodes and I give in. I'm off to rashly spend my birthday money on S1 & 2 on DVD, because I want to know what's going on properly. If this all ends in tears some days, I shall blame you. ;-D What am I getting myself into?
But now I'm all intrigued, I didn't find the full episodes long and I like them all, especially Avon and Vila and I'm waiting to see if anyone's actually going to be allowed any actual character development at some point (or maybe this is what you get for watching sliced up episodes). I mean, they've already used up pretty much all the Terry Nation cliches already, so they'll have to try something different soon. And, really, I jest, because truthfully, you did it, curse you. You went and got me hooked on the BBC's other shaky old sf show. :-p (Even though I've just watched scenery bounce on more than one occasion.)
Edit: Well, the deed is done and I should drop the unconvincing attempt to be cool about it and say: thank you!
