Special Branch - Michael Keating pics

Firstly, (and entirely unrelated) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to shinyjenni! I hope you have a lovely day!

I promised I'd also bring pics from Michael Keating's episode of Special Branch (1969). It was a relatively small role, in episode 4 "A Date With Leonidas" (in which the operation was mostly unsuccessful, but they did at least catch the culprit thanks to the unusual efficiency of the Royal Mail) but he was in it throughout the episode as Det. Constable Pearce.

Special Branch have reason to believe that Insp. Madgwitch may be in danger. So, when he arrives home, he finds he has Det. Constables Pearce (Michael Keating) and Morrissey (Keith Washington) to stay for the duration. Even though they are both pretty cheerful and lovable, and have their own tea and sandwiches, he is not best pleased.

(See? Box with sandwiches and thermos of tea.)

Later on he watches Pinky and Perky with Madgwitch's daughter. Apparently, everyone liked watching Pinky and Perky, even if they were way too old for it. (The girl also seems to think Pearce isn't to be trusted out with her mother. So what went on in the bits we didn't see, I don't know...)

Interrogation scene at the end. He's in the background throughout this, but it's hard to get good caps.

Caught out by one of the oldest tricks in the book...

And, look, one kind of accidental close-up, finally! (With Damien Thomas.)

(vilakins, I know you do art things sometimes, so if you want any/all of the original screencaps for any reason, I have these and more (but similar), let me know.)

And, as I have now finished watching it, let me tell you, they were pretty much unsuccessful in 12 out of 14 missions! I love it. (And one of the ones where they were successful was written by Robert Stewart Banks who clearly doesn't pay any attention to the show he's actually writing for and just writes his idea of it, anyway. cf. The Seeds of Doom. You can just hear them, "It's spies, they say." James Bond, he thinks. "No, no, but police as well." Christie type whodunnit in a foreign embassy, he thinks. *rolls eyes*) And they don't care. They just shrug and go home and have a casserole or watch the cricket, because that's just life, isn't it? ( Sorry, I have an unreasonable love of sort of undramatic TV of this kind.)

Also, completely unrelated again, I had this idea for a fanvid, and it's probably because my brain is tired, but I keep thinking instead that I can go and find it on YouTube. But, no, lost_spook, it only exists in your head. *brain!tired* (ETA: went to check. Yep, no one else made it first. Heh.)
