They look cool! Although it was text ones I was thinking of. I don't know what typical CS things would work on an icon though.
But some things that come up a lot (or have in the ones I've re-read this year) are quote about nemesis descending when they say slang, girls for whom to think is to act and girls who rub their leg with one foot when they're being told off. How about some of the forbidden slang? Like topping, rubber-necked four-flusher (or whatever it was) etc
Aw, thanks. Some of them are okay, but... you know when you're just not happy with stuff? ...this is one of those times!
I do think text could work - but I recently did a big reread, and there wouldn't be quotes online, so it would take quite a while to get some together. But, yes, it's definitely a thing that should be done - could be quite amusing!
Hey, I remember some of those covers! Your icons look very good. I really like the Chalet School (with text) icon, so I've snagged that and I'll credit you in my userpics.
Thank you! Yes, they're from the Armada 1980s/90s covers. I have almost all of them in those, which I like - but of course, some of them are abridged. So I have this awkward pull between wanting to find the full versions some time and wanting to keep the editions I have! :-)
Out of those, I definitely like the ones of the Chalet itself, too.
The Armada versions are the ones I first started reading too. I was shocked when they reprinted the full version of The School at the Chalet - it was twice the size of the other!
Girls Gone By Publishers are republishing all the Chalet School books, along with Elinor M. Brent-Dyer's other books (all unabridged), but they sell out pretty fast, so buying the copies later costs a heck of a lot more. The books are usually £12 when they first come out, and really nice quality. GGBP are doing a whole stack of YA lit. If you're considering buying them, you might want to buy them ASAP. They sometimes do a reprint of a very popular book, but otherwise you're stuck paying lots for a hardcover version or paying way over the odds for a GGBP copy that's out of print.
I've been waffling between this post and your other Chalet School icon post, because I only have the one space. It could have been one of the text icons, but I've finally plumped on the textless icon of the chalet itself, which I will credit you for.
