I am quite glad I outlawed Doctor Who from this meme, because it has had me looking at some more unexpected people (well, some of them), and then again, maybe I'm driven to people I shouldn't pick - like this character...
Day Ten: Anna Thornton-Wilton (Emma Pierson)

You see, Hotel Babylon is (or was) my guilty pleasure show (although I only watched it from S3, because of it being inconveniently scheduled and also having Tamzin Outhwaite in until then. So please note if S3/4 Anna is much different to S1/2 Anna, I'm ignorant) and that makes Anna an odd candidate for this, even more so when I think about some of her actions. And, no, I don't take any of Hotel Babylon seriously! However, she is awesome, nevertheless:
Fundamentally, Anna is Cinderella, but she covers it up by trying to be the meanest stepsister she can, and being ruthlessly determined to snag the prince - any prince at all. But, while she may want a piece of the wealth she sees pass in front of her every day, she's still Cinderella at heart: that front is there because she doesn't want to get her heart broken again.
Of course, that's a Cinderella who pretty much always gets what she wants - and the lengths she would go to in order to get it (information, evidence, revenge, a guy or anything else) were definitely a highlight of the show. (Which stopped pretty soon after she left: Emma Pierson has the rare combination of being gorgeous and talented at comedy).
And if you need someone to save the day when someone's being held hostage by a gunman, she'll put aside her unhappiness and crawl through the ventilation shaft in high heels to get the job done. She can even get everyone around her to go along with her pretence that she isn't pregnant (and that's eight months pregant, btw). I thought about Anna compared to the more serious contenders on this list, if they came up against each other, and realised that I would never, ever put any money on Anna losing...
