Belated Birthday Fic

Jun 17, 2010 20:57

I was making an effort to actually write tonight, and stumbled across my rather odd effort at birthday fic for jjpor. It's not exactly what I would call a story, and my efforts at doing Doctor-related OTPs fail as always, but it came out of one of those epic LJ conversations we've had (where we make the thread go about as thin as a needle), this one ( Read more... )

Awwww! I love Romana and the Doctor switching positions and getting younger models. I love the shorts for the various companions, especially Peri - The thing about the two of them - all of it - it all comes back to the one fact: he died for her. Wow.

Also, I know have an odd urge to read fic with Amelia Rumford and Amelia Pond and River song having some sort of interaction.

Heh, thanks so much. It was really my effort to write a multi-Doctor/Romana fic for jjpor for his birthday, but I failed. I just have this issue with all-Doctors/One person ships - if they are in any way being taken seriously by a lot of people, that is (so the three Rs all trouble me, depending on how it's handled) simply because the relationship the audience invests in is the 'now' one, romantic or not, between the Doctor and companion (whoever it is) and that has its own magic, that would be tarnished by the Doctor pushing them aside if his One True Love suddenly appeared. So it because an awkward marriage between the two and I gave it up for lost, but when I read it last night, I cut it back a bit & thought it was worth posting. So thanks for your comments (and sorry for the epic reply). (Although I think I deserve bonus points for quashing my inner Five/Tegan shipper for birthday purposes! :lol ( ... )

Oooo, I just....loved all of this. It was like getting a surprise box of chocolates and getting to nibble my way through each one to see what the fillings were. Perfect place-swapping at the end, very nicely and gracefully done. Very glad you decided to post these.

Yay, they so went back to see Amelia again! Also, I don't actually think the Doctor would push anyone aside for his One True Love (I don't really believe there is such a thing - unless Moffat's planning to do just that. *shudders*). His relationships with each companion might be different, but it's not more or less.

Oh, I really believe that they went back to see Amelia! How could they not? :-)

Yes, I think, when it comes to Doctor OTPs, that, really< I think too much about things, and then it worries me, when really, I should just relax, enjoy the fanfic, whatever. :-) And, maybe the next two weeks will prove me wrong, but if River really does turn out to be the Doctor's wife (except in amusing circumstances where they had to) and One True Love, I will be entirely shocked, because I've felt all along that this is - as it surely has to be - a big tease. But I don't know - I haven't even looked at any spoilers, so I know less than the average fan right now.

His relationships with each companion might be different, but it's not more or less.

And if I could sum things up like that, I might not have needed a couple thousand words of story! *nods*

Love? With the Doctor? It’s not very likely, is it? All she knows is she doesn’t want to see him die, or see him less than he is, because the universe would be a darker place, somewhere she doesn’t want to live. She doesn’t say these things. She says he’s a walking disaster and a broken clock keeps better time than he does.

Wow. Unexpectedly floored. This is so rich and whimsical and lovely, and somehow still full of those cold-hard-truth sentences which I so love. Okay. Maybe you don't have to write insane crossovers all the time.

Heh. If anyone wants me to write about the complicated relationship Tegan and FIve have, I'm always game for that! :-)

And thank you! Aw.
