My version of hobbit-ness

May 13, 2010 21:33

This is a resurrection of the crossover fic meme from last year. (In the hobbit tradition of giving gifts on one's birthday.) I'm slightly ahead of time, I realise, but I thought best to collect the prompts now & maybe there will be fic on the weekend for people. It's fic_rush time again, you know.

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know ( Read more... )

writing, crossover, meme, crossover meme

Oh well, there goes my Gene Hunt meets Duggan idea! ;D

Most generous of you, btw!

Please can I have Inspector Japp out of Poirot (the Philip Jackson TV version) meets the Seventh Doctor in the course of some escapade?

Heh. I don't see much difference between the TV and print versions, so you're okay there. The question is just whether he helped him solve the crime or committed it ("So, Dr Smith, just what were you and your young associate doing blowing a rather large hole in the wall of the bank?")

I think, one day, when you need cheering up, only you could do justice to the awesomeness that would be Gene and Duggan fighting meeting. You have to wait till clocketpatch is around again, though, because she might explode or something. :-D

I think given Seven and Ace's usual behaviour that them having committed the crime would be the more likely option! ;D

Heh, well, you never know. I think that's another one that the DbyAistas have discussed at some point, a bit like Seven/Beatrix Potter, so...you never know... I think Gene's dialogue would be a bit hard to write well, and not just because of its relentless offensiveness; he has a very distinct sort of voice, I find. Duggan would almost certainly punch him...and get punched straight back...

"Ignore them, they're just establishing their credentials."

(Though that was said of Ancelyn and Bambera, whose relationship developed... I think I need brain bleach now.)

That's...that's a mental image and a half. I'm going to need more than brain bleach...

Well I never. It would seem that there's a market for these shiny new Joo Janta 2000 Peril-Sensitive Slash Goggles after all.

Of course, that would be the way round it, wouldn't it? Gene-Duggan fight in the background while Sam or Alex (take your pick) and co discuss. :-D

I'm not willing to commit myself at this stage.

Yeah, it would be fight fic, definitely. Now, if we could just work in some joke about Sam being the spitting image of the NuWho Master...

But yeah, probably best not to commit. It's already starting to expand worryingly in my mind, despite the brain bleach application.

Oh, now, don't spoil it.

And, you see, that's why you have to be careful with the brain bleach. Sometimes it just creates a vacuum into which fic spreads to cover the whole, because of nature not liking to do the vacuuming.*

(*There's a possibility I may now be delirious. ;-D)

And yet your words make a worrying amount of sense...

But yes, probably best to keep it simple. Sam Tyler/NuWho Master fic can wait til next time! ;D

But yes, this is my new cracktastic theory for just what the flipping heck is going on in Ashes to Ashes. It's the Land of Fiction from the Mind Robber; Sam Tyler _is_ NuWho Master, who somehow ended up there after EoT. Which makes Alex Drake Romana, that creepy DCI in the mac possibly the Black Guardian, and Gene Hunt either the Twelfth Doctor, the White Guardian, the Celestial Toymaker or some strange gestalt entity composed of all three of them. Or maybe Rassilon. Which just leaves me to decide who all of the other characters might be...

I'll be very, very disappointed if this doesn't turn out to be the actual real explanation on Friday! XD

I think you may possibly be disappointed on Friday.

Well, unless it was some cunning narrative in-joke, which it could be, you'd have to explain how, 40 years before Harold Saxon, you got the ref in. Personally, I'm sure that's been covered and slashed, whereas Duggan-Gene fighting has not been done even once, and that is a crime. A crime, I say!

You know, I think I just possibly might be... ;D

Oh yeah, somebody has almost certainly written that one. As for Duggan-Gene, well it's another one on the list anyway.
