Ah! Respite.
Finally, my labour yields fruit!
So after I demoed that, I had a very successful day.
While I waited for Ange to get to campus, I decided to have a chat with Kaplan and see if I could work for him part time as a URA for the spring/summer term. He was thankfully supportive of the idea, so we're going to discuss it over the winter term, to see what kinds of things I could do for him. He liked my demo page, and my results and then showed me that one of my observations about the edge enhancement things (Objective 9 in the link above) was written up in part of a Siggraph course from 10 years ago. Nice!
Then I decided to do something completely different and out of the ordinary for me. I went shopping. Not only did I go shopping, I went down to Fairview, for the first time. How I've managed to avoid going there even once before, eludes me, but likely has to do with myself not being a big shopper.
It was a very good trip. I decided that I needed some socks. And not just any socks mind you. Good socks. Socks that fit no less, since it is a challenge to find socks for size 13 feet. *wiggles toes* I'm very happy with my selection.
Then I got to see Christa for the first time since forever, and get some tasty popcorn to boot. It's always good to see her :). After that Ange and I had lunch, and did a bunch of browsing around EB since I can actually play PC games again with my new machine.
The next big stop was the book store, where I bought stuff for myself and others. I'm looking forward to reading The Awakened Mage. I asked the cashier about it (she had Ask me about Sci-Fi and Fantasy pinned to her) and we chatted briefly about the Wheel of Time series, and other things that we've mutually read.
The trip finished with getting a Cinnabon on the way out, which was excellent when I finally got around to eating it.
We managed to just catch the iExpress on the way back, and Christa was on the same bus! Conversation caused time to fly which is nice for the long bus ride.
The evening was filled with a FASS writers meeting, wherein I was unsuccessful at coming up wit an OSAP themed version of the Bad Horse Chorus, but the meeting was fun as always.
After getting home, I immeadiately set out to install Vista on my Mac so I can play games on it. It tooke a bit longer than I'd like, but it's there and ti's working and it's got games :). I'm going to have fun with this!
Today is/has been allotted to no work at all. Strictly not allowed. I slept in, I played an adventure game for a few hours and I don't know where the time has gone. I'm ignoring everything and it's bliss!
Tonight I'm being tied to a chair and being made to watch How I Met Your Mother by a friend.
But for now I relax! *sinks into his Omni*
