I was sitting next to a woman today at Starbucks whom I came close to bitch slapping. She was venting to someone on her cell phone about how fired up she is over Obama. It’s not whether she agrees with him or not that was pissing me off. It was all the negative insults that was coming out of her mouth. Things like, “I am SO fired up. He is going to

I think some people hope that Pres. Obama will fail because they are scared to death that his ideas might actually work, and that all of their hoopla about socialism, fascism, political weakness, etc., will prove to be nothing more than a window into their paranoid delusions.
That's just my opinion, though. :-)
Why anyone would want to see their country fail is beyond me. To prove a point, while millions of people lose their jobs and homes? Why are people so scared of a President with a different approach?
I'm all for questioning politicians, and authority. But there is hypocrisy in this whole attitude that I can't stomach. Where were the voices of dissent for the previous 8 years?
I get it - some people are loyal to their party - and one might argue that blindly supporting Obama because he is President is wrong - but in that case, blindly hating everything he does because he's not representative of your political party is also wrong.
I remember Fox News having a rather lengthy campaign of "YOU ARE ANTI-AMERICAN IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT!" when Bush was in office.... they changed their tune now, though, didn't they?
However, as much as I want to blame the anti-Obama folk for being slightly insane and/or irrational hypocrites.... I can't help but blame the democrats, progressives, etc,. that didn't organize massive protests against Bush when he was in power. I was waiting for it those whole 8 years... when are we going to take to the streets? When are we going to make the calls, and get the publicity for our movement? And while I know there were some protests here and there, the overall failure to be actively against Bush policies is pretty clear, and painfully unfortunate.

One commenter above asked, "Why shouldn't you want someone to fail to implement something you believe is horribly flawed?" The way I see it- our government, despite all the intellectual debates within it, is nothing like a dictatorship where you would like to see fail and something more democratic to take over. In a democracy we should be able to work together and try to find common ground. That's the way it should be anyway. And I don't want to point fingers but I'm not hearing any solutions from most conservatives. Instead they just bitch.
It's interesting as I was having this conversation with a bunch of my friends over drinks the other night (yes, this is what I talk about sometimes out at a bar haha). I would ask all these complainers, "Well, what have you actually done to make a difference?" But I think the same of everyone else, even myself. Look how a great deal of the population came together to get Obama elected. What if we all got together like that for another cause, such as fighting poverty and what not? That might be pretty awesome.
