Rushing Beneath the Rain

Sep 18, 2006 23:18

Rushing along between classes
With a small umbrella in hand,
I passed by the sluggish masses;
Racing against the time at hand.
Above, the clouds release their load in trickling rain.

Rushing along the side of the Mall,
I come upon a passage lined with trees
Immense, forming a grand and striking hall.
I pause to dream the scene with sun and breeze.
Above, the canopy stands dull against the gloomy sky.

Wresting myself from reverie,
Recalling what I nearly forsook,
I raced along in misery.
Before the door I paused, to look
Above; to see an overcast and drizzling sky.

VERY rough. I will probably revisit this some time soon to revise it. I tried to create my own fixed form in terms of meter; not sure that turned out too well. Take note of the line lengths. Also, any suggestions for another title is welcome.
