[Backdated to during the thunderstorm... coz she really should have reacted to it....]

[Kirimi is hiding under her bed. She really, really, really does not like the thunder and lightning outside. She can't help screaming each time there's a particularly loud clap of thunder and is soon wailing.]

O-Onii-chama! Val-nee-chama! M-make it go away!

thunder and lightning go away...

Let's see...

There once was a legendary oarfish that could control the lightning strikes around her. She acted as a messenger for the gods, delivering their edicts with great bolts of thunder.

... the lightning outside are her messages?

Sometimes. Anyways, the oarfish was quite satisfied with her job. She was content to serve as the messenger of the gods for they treated her well and the power gave her much respect on the surface.

However, there was one particular celestial that decided to stir up trouble for our heroine. A girl stricken with boredom who decided the solution to such was to begin wreaking havoc on the surface world in the form of earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Mn. What happened then? Did the oarfish stop her?

She certainly would have tried, but it would have been considered a crime if she had interfered directly. So all she could do was warn the people below of this celestial's madness. Unfortunately, because of this oarfish's own ability over lightning and thunder, many humans feared her and turned her away before she could deliver her messages.

Did everyone get killed then?

Not at all.

You see, one of the lightning bolts luckily struck the Celestial completely on accident. The oarfish couldn't be held responsible, as it was a message meant for the humans to hear.

So everyone was saved?

Very much so. And from then on, the lightning bolts that flew through the sky were seen as symbols of peace and prosperity.

If it is the lightning of the legendary oarfish. But even then, lightning serves its place in nature's grand design. Instead of fearing it, you should embrace it for all that it can do that is a benefit to you.
