Looking around I don't deny that there has been alot of personal posts with individual thoughts on the whole tension that's been escalating, for miniscule reasons. Like
sugah66 has said, the petition was created a show of support for our ship and not as prompt to attacking or making any other ships inferior.
But that's not the point of this post. With the creation of the petition, we have evidently provoked the other ships, which mostly conforms to D/F believe it or not. Since then, we've continuously been "attacked" by them, having left anonymous comments on our personal LJ's as well as the petition itself. So they've attacked us, it's happened before. What I want to say is that we shouldn't attack them back. Not because I think we can't win, on the contrary, I think we could flatten their bare asses flat. BUT, my point is that we should EVER have to defend our thoughts to people who don't agree with us.
We support D/L, and with the petition, CBS, the writers TPTB will be alerted to our support of their onscreen relationship. That is all that matters. The tension needs to stop. Personally, I condemn ship-bashing since it does nothing but promote retaliation; and that is what I think many of them want. They continue to put our ship down, insult us and bitch about us to get a reaction from us, to make themselves "known" to us and everybody else through this clash. I for one do not intend to give them that pleasure. They know we outnumber them, we've gotten 500 signatures in mere days and that continues to grow, so they've resorted to downgrading out ship - again and again hoping to break us.
That won't happen. For some of them, and for the sake of being fair I wont name, think too highly of themselves for whatever reasons and may believe that they have the right and ability to impose their thoughts on us. Haha - think again. We need to ignore them, instead of giving them the pleasure in getting riled up over nothing. We're not that insecure about our ship and TPTB wont do anything too drastic, CSI:NY is first and foremost a crime show and not a soap. Cheating is usually done with the intention of upping the ratings, which I think will have an opposite effect in this case. They know they have a large fanbase as D/L fans, they wont play with that.
We are D/L shippers and shouldn't have to lower ourselves to retaliate an attack that is infact incredibly childish in nature. We're above that. Like what's been said about the DL army icons, I love them, but at talkCSI, I think is the one place where we are seen as a minority compared to the others. There really is no point in provoking them anymore than they already have been. I simply wish that the seperate ships would leave each other alone. We don't bash their pairings, whatever pairings that may be, and they have no reason to bash ours.
The most I can come up with is that they're more insecure about their own ships, having to result to bashing ours, which I repeat, IS CANON only to make themselves feel better. Why should we give them the pleasure of letting them know that they're getting to us? We shouldn't lash back, but simply take what they give us. We're above that. It's plain childish.
I apologise for this pointless post, I just had to get it out of my system. Sorry! I had the intention of offending people...but that didn't make it through that much considering this post isn't going to my LJ. But hey, this is just what I think. I support D/L wholeheartedly and I'd hate to see us downgrade ourselves to their level, who they are; are those who have no life, and seem to think ship-bashing is a fun sport. Not with us it's not. We're better than that.
