Night Trap is amazing

ly bad, but in a good way.  Unfortunately, I never had the chance to play this when I had my Sega CD.  I was stuck with the even more abysmal launch title Sewer Shark, which has you shooting rats and bats in, yes, the sewer.  Except it's THE FUTURE so you get to fly around instead of walk.  One of my fondest memories from that game is watching some fat, recognizable character actor shove spaghetti into his mouth during one of the newfangled FMVs that appear to have been shot on someone's cell phone camera from THE FUTURE.

But yeah, Night Trap is hilarious.  I downloaded the Sega CD emulator and this ROM last night after tackling Aliens and Sunset Riders on the MAME emulator.  Featuring Dana Plato, before her untimely demise, you try and trap these baddies dressed in black as they wander through this house during a girls' slumber party.  The house is bugged with eight cameras, and you switch from one to the other and press a button at the right moment to capture them in really lame, ridiculous ways.  I don't know what the fuck the plot is because I'm so fucking busy trying to keep the black baddies out of the house, who shuffle around the hallways as if they're mentally retarded.

Playing through these old games made me think, "Did anyone ever beat the fucking games?"  Maybe it was just my short attention span for games at the time, or my finding reading much more interesting when I was a kid, but I never remember finishing a game.  Take the TMNT NES game.  I recall getting past the underwater electric seaweed section relatively few times, and after that I remember loitering in that fucking van until I died because I didn't know where to go or what to do.  Games are so much easier now.

Since Night Trap has been such a success, I think I'll go ahead and download the various other shitty FMV titles that graced the Sega CD while it still had absolutely nothing going for it.  All kidding aside, I do remember having fun playing Jurassic Park when I was little.  And to this day, I still cherish the gaming experience I had with Snatcher, one of my favorite games EVER.  We'll see if that withstands the test of time as well as Night Trap.  I could also try the Penn and Teller game in which you have to drive a bus from Tuscon to Las Vegas (I think) for literally eight hours.  Eight fucking hours.  And then you have to go back!

Totally worth it.
