Saw Of Montreal play at the Union tonight. The band that opened for them, a Japanese outfit called Elekibass, put on a really good show.
Of Montreal started playing their set, starting with the first song from their new album. The power went out twice during this time, annoying the drummer so much he threw his drumsticks across the stage. Kevin, the lead singer, looked pretty exasperated as well. So, they ended up playing an acoustic show with drums, bass, keyboards, and other assorted instruments like tambourines, cowbells, etc. It was amazing how quickly they were able to recover, and how well they were able to do so. Their show ended with an a capella version of "Tim I Wish You Were Born a Girl" sung by the entire audience.
Oh, and the cops came between performances because some cuntbag tried fighting a security officer. They never found him, but his dewd-bro friends behind me were giggling about the whole incident. Cum guzzlers.
Lately I've been thinking about what I want to do following graduation. Here's a brief list of things I've been considering/daydreaming about:
- leave country, do something
- teach English somewhere, anywhere
- pursue some sort of popular music studies track for graduate and post-graduate work
- consider compiling history of global hardcore punk; could tie in with last daydream
- return home later in life and turn my dad's Dos Patos property and turn it into something else, or something similar to what it used to be.. In the 60s and 70s my dad sold Italian bicycles, esoteric literature, and artwork at this gallery he owned. Now it's storage for my uncle primarily. Perhaps turn it into a record store, venue, bookstore, or all of the above.
