Yep that's right, I don't post for a month and the first thing you discover upon my return is that I probably smell bad due to technology failure!
So the shower's broken so that's £175 to rectify, oh and we need a PME which is £154. The electrician openly laughed when he saw our consumer unit (fuse box), I knew it needed replacing when the PME gets fitted so after ringing around I found that his quote was also amongst the cheapest, not *the* cheapest but not far off at £420 which is a £104 less than the electricity company doing it (at £524).
All told, and with VAT, that's ~£853 so it looks like I'll be raiding the savings again, and trying to have a cheap month, or four :/
Actually if you have a look at the article about consumer units on wikipedia it has two examples. Our current one isn't like either of those, in fact I vaguely remember once seeing on like it in an OLD house when I was a small child... I'm vaguely surprised that it doesn't have valves, steam and arcs of lightning.
My Dad's been on at me to sort out going and doing a competent crew course before we sail the Atlantic in January. Now I want to do one, it's just tricky finding the time. The course takes 5 days, usually spread over 3 weekends. I cannot take any more holiday because if I do I won't have enough to actually do the sailing across the Atlantic itself!
This makes going away for 3 weekends consecutively a bit tricky to arrange. I'm also running out of time to do it though unless I get a real move on.
Oh and for those that didn't know, I'm sailing across the Atlantic from Tenerife to somewhere in the Caribbean with my Dad in January. It'll take approximately 3 weeks with a week for boat preparation/provisioning at the start plus travel & contingency at the end.
Danni's school is currently getting assessed by Ofsted. This is incredibly stressful for her and all of the other teachers, then at the end they'll give a report which as far as I can tell means nothing useful. It will however have massively interrupted lessons and teaching and thrown things into disarray.
Right I'm gonna cook me some dinner, since Danni will be eating at work.
