V squee! Under a cut so to not clog your f-lists!
V was fantastic! Absolutely brilliant despite the rain! (And the random stoner that hit on my Ma...)
Rodrigo y Gabriela two of the most amazing guitarists I've ever heard! They used the acoustic guitars as both guitars and drums. I am so asking my new guitar teacher if we can learn some of their stuff. It was amazing.
James Morrison, it was nice seeing him play a set. Last year he was dragged on the stage between acts, but he was just as good then as he was yesterday. My Ma decided that Jimmy-boy has sexy teeth (ok Ma....). When they scanned the crowd, the camera showed where we were standing! It was so cool, you couldn't see us, but there were three multi-coloured umbrellas infront of us and you could see those.
KT Tunstall she's so wee, and Scottish... I didn't know that. Her set was fantastic, and she is very funny. When she introduced 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree' she said: "You know you've made it when you're number 1 in the British Line Dancing Chart!" It was so funny, I had to icon it!
The Rumble Strips, we stumbled across these by hiding in a tent away from the rain. I am so glad we did, they were brilliant! My sister hated them, but I was screaming along to the ends of the songs, they were so good! And the lead sing is quite hot (from a distance anyway!) After seeing them at V, I have decided I want their album, and the singer has gone on my list celebrities to hug! (Along with Jon Foreman [Switchfoot], Jools Holland, James Morrison and many more!)
Mika by far one of the best sets we saw. He was just so lively. And so unbelievably cool it hurts. Not only could he pull of very skinny purple jeans, which were still baggy on him; he can play the piano standing up, get away with having inflatable people on his stage, people in chicken suits on stage, play the drums while standing on the bass with someone else playing it AND play the dustbin! I was bopping throughout the whole set! And it didn't rain when he was on. It can't rain when you listen to Mika! And he played my favourite Mika song too which made me squee with joy! It was also his birthday, so the audience started singing to him when the keyboard player started playing it. Mika hit the keys, it was all funny.
Lily Allen was absolutely hilarious. She bad mouthed loads of people and told us she was carried home in a carrier bag!! She kept wittering between her songs so the people tried to get her to leave so they could set up for the Manic Street Preachers, and she just laughed at them! She was a little drunk I think because she was ill and kept drinking some alcoholic thing. But even so, she was very good. I was just waiting for Keith to pop up! lol
Killers We didn't really listen to them, because one we were cold, two my sister wanted to catch Damien Rice before we left. But what we heard in the car park was good. I managed to catch a little of 'Read My Mind' which is my fave.
Damien Rice was a nice way to finish a brilliant day. We didn't stay for the whole set because we wanted to leave before everyone so we could find the car. But we managed to hear 'Canonball' and 'Volcano' which are two I know and like. He was very good, and in a tent so thumbs up Damien!
So that's Saturday, we also heard a bit of the Goo Goo Dolls, but we didn't know any of the songs. So we shopped through them! I got me a very funky jacket which is coming with me to Greece and will be worn on my first day of college.
Just Jack, I want to hug him. He is so sweet! And looks funky in star sunnies! He managed to get the crowd clapping despite the horrible weather. He's joined my list of hug! lol He also told us that he fell over yesterday at the other venue so look out for it on YouTube! lol He actually told us that!
The Proclaimers are made of such win it is unbelievable. I was in a Proclaimers mosh pit they were that loved! Everyone was throwing those little disc things and millions landed by me, it was ace. There was about ten in the air at every moment. The music was brilliant, and when 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' there wasn't a still person about. Even my sister clapped! Me and my Ma were boogying all over the place!
Ghosts were ok, we only saw them for a little while as I was the only one that was enjoying it and being in a tent wasn't enough motivation to stay for the others. What I saw was ok though. Bassist was hot. (again from a distance.)
The Thrills sounded ok, we couldn't really hear. Partly as we weren't really listening and because the wind blew the sound away. From what I heard they were pretty good, I want to hear their stuff not live to make a real judgement on them.
The Fray again, they were ok. The music was nice (people in front us weren't), I think we would have enjoyed it more if we weren't so bloody freezing! It had stopped raining by then, but bloody hell it was cold! My elbows were drenched and my legs were really muddy.
We came home really early today, because we were that cold and the only act we wanted to see was Snow Patrol and they aren't on until 7:40pm (oo 25 mins! [correct at time of typing]) V '07 was amazing, even with the crappy weather!
