Summary: Set somewhere during Curse of the Black Pearl. Will Turner muses on how his life has changed since meeting Jack Sparrow.

He Sees Infinity
His mother warns him that this might happen, he recalls, a long time ago when he was just a boy with no intention of living the life of a seaman. Some still might consider him a boy by appearance, he realizes, but a lifetime of struggle and self-imposed independence makes him feel older than he really is. He’s not opposed to carrying on a sordid affair with a notorious pirate, though it is against everything he ever stood for. But that was before, when he was a maker of swords by day and a dreamer of innocent love in the form of Elizabeth Swann by night.
Now, they chase her across the Caribbean like some mythical treasure and instead of wanting to find her, he studies the Captain of their commandeered vessel. There is something otherworldly about Jack Sparrow that Will finds intriguing and terribly erotic. He’s practically irresistible to him.
It starts innocently enough, with a bottle of rum, but it quickly blazes into something more, something intoxicating that Will hesitates to define. By proximity Will begins to adopt Jack’s laissez-faire attitude and finds enjoyment in simpler pleasures than what he is used to. Jack’s finest rum. A dice game involving the loser’s removal of clothing. Picking out constellations on a clear night and the taste of Jack’s skin, sea salt and rum and absolute compliance. Will is no longer sure of what he wants or where his destiny lies, but perhaps it does not matter. Not in the here and now, when he sees infinity in Jack’s dark eyes. He tries to think less and act more and relishes in the sly smiles the Captain gives him, seeing his progress on the road to debauchery.
