Feedback: Oh yes, please, by all means!
Its a waiting game, Claire realizes as she watches him stroll along the shoreline with Aaron in
his arms. His feathery golden hair shags over his eyes but still she can see the fight inside of him. Its
been only a few days since the discovery of the figurine, and already she knows he's been helping himself generously to its contents, and frequently.
"Charlie," she called to him, sadly, "Let me take Aaron." Reaching out for him, Charlie reluctantly cradled the young boy into her arms and swiped his brow clean of the evenings heat. Claire watched him pace alittle before he settled down next to her, fidgeting with his collar, complaining it was irritating him. Claire's eye was fixed on the small lump in his side pocket. Don't go there.
"Claire, I mean it, when we get back to civilization, I'm taking you on the road with us." he raved and smiled at her. Claire frowned.
"Charlie, Aaron..." she began. But it was too late to stop him.
"We'll have him stay with us, of course!"
"But a baby on the road? With a bunch of musicians?"
"Its not like I won't take care of you guys, ya know..." he scoffed, sounding offended but beamed a smile at her anyways. Claire broke a small grin and nestled Aaron closely against her chest.
She hated it when he was high. It was like dealing with a person in a stage of mania, who thought they could do anything, say anything. Claire took a hesitant look around her and saw Locke sitting with a knife and log, carving off the bark. He discovered her and with a thin smile reassured her. This is what he must face for a time, she recalled him telling her a couple hours ago, It was destiny that he found the heroin, and his fate is in his hands.
Fate. Destiny. Things she once believed in so strongly. Til they took hold of her Charlie.
Charlie's hand were twitching around his pocket now, with a look of intense struggle upon his face. It pained Claire to watch so she turned her head and held back a cry by biting her lip. Don't go there, Charlie...don't go there...
"I, uh, think I forgot to put away my guitar. And Kate thinks it might rain, so..." he stuttered as he wobbled onto his feet and stared back into the jungle with anticipation. Don't go there.
"Mmm hmm," Claire whimpered and nestled her face against the side of Aarons head for cover. Charlie padded off and the tears flooded her eyes. Don't go there, Charlie! Don't go...
