My cat sleeps with me at night. For a while he had stopped, because I had been hibernating in New Jersey and only spent two or three nights at home. But now that I'm home every night he's begun sleeping with me again.
Usually I sleep in the fetal position, and he curls up into my stomach. Last night, however, I had rolled onto my back towards the end of the night. He then decided it would be a great idea to leap onto my face carrying his string (which is like his security blanket. He carries it around with him everywhere). Usually this isn't a problem - he curls up on my chest and we fall back to sleep. Last night, in the middle of a dream where I'm making out with someone, he leaps onto my face and one of his claws digs into the side of my nose. It hurt a bit, but I ignored it and tried to go back to sleep. A few seconds later I realize that there is blood running down my face. I run into the bathroom trying not to drip blood everywhere.
Turns out his claw totally punctured my nose/cheek area. Took a few minutes to get the blood to stop, and once it did my nose was throbbing so much I couldn't sleep anyway.
And I had jury duty this morning, which is the most painful form of civil service on the planet. I didn't realize how many stupid and entitled people live in Kings County. (Which is totally the word I've been looking for to describe Lindsay, by the way. Entitled. Spoiled and entitled). But anyway. To make a long story short, I told them I was an important part of a complex class action litigation that was remanded back from the Court of Appeals, and my firm can't afford to not have me in the office. I got excused for six months. Yay.
