Drabble - Flip Side (Sawyer)

Jul 09, 2007 22:14

Sequel to hendercats drabble, Confession, originally posted in my journal in April 2007. You could call this the other side of the coin. 115 words, including the title. So shoot me.

FLIP SIDE (Sawyer, Desmond)

The fire popped and sparks flew as the echoes of Desmond's confession faded into the darkness. Sawyer waited, taking another pull at the bottle before passing it back, tapping the neck against Desmond's knee and asking, "Why're you tellin' me?"

It was a calculated risk. Desmond could either move on or he could get bogged down in the memory. Sawyer was hoping for all he was worth that Desmond would move along. He wasn't in the mood to play nursemaid to a weeping, besotted Scot.

Instead, Des gathered up his raw emotions, formed them into a neat little ball, and tossed it into Sawyer's lap, saying, "Because, brother, I knew you'd understand."

Son of a bitch.
