Flickr Account; Social Networking Hierarchy

May 19, 2008 01:19

Some of you may have already figured this one out, but I just created a Flickr account (after over a year of Liz asking me to do so).

I am ivy_windchaser. Add as you wish.

Now I am presented with another dilemma. Many people have prodded me to get a myspace or facebook account. The only reason I would do so would be to catch up with old acquaintances, people who I would usually have trouble being myself around. I would no doubt present a heavily-filtered and edited version of myself. Most people that I interact with on a regular basis know the real me, and I can easily speak to them in person, email, chat, phone, or on livejournal.

As with most venues, people who inhabit one or two social networks consider theirs to be the best and scorn all others. As with social castes, yacht clubs, geeks, and fetishists, social networkers certainly have their own hierarchy.

What order would you put the social networks in and what values do you base this pyramid on?
