design block

I'm suffering from some major design block at work today. I'm trying to come up with some concepts for a website for a very picky client and everything I do I think "hmmph, nothing special" or "Well I've done that look before" or "well that looks like a good chunk of the layouts already out there on the web"

I want an extra dose of creativity.

No way! Use some old stuff with a colour change, or move a line here and there. Lather, rinse, repeat - just ask any modern artist.

maybe its your idiot co-workers. I dont know how you can put up with that. I would sit down and have a serious meeting and inform them that your work is being disturbed and you need to be in a positive environment. Any rational person would work something out. Maybe you can bribe that jerk or something, tell him if he shuts up you will flash him or something like that. (You know I'm joking but its worth a try). Sound like he has some pent up energy...anyways, god luck with designing I know its not easy. But I am sure you will be okay...maybe ear plugs are a good idea to help though!

I can't blame the coworker on this one at all. I was stressed because of non-work related stuff.

Despite the occasional annoyances, it's usually a very enjoyable atmosphere here. There are many times where the 3 of us designers take a few moments to goof off together for a quick stress relief... the problem is only when a certain person can't understand "now is not the time" and although it is a problem, I don't feel it is big enough of one to speak to the boss about and cause more tension in the office.
