Television commercials hurt me in ways I can't begin to explain.
I find it frustrating/sad/annoying that my family is so numbed by it. When I go over to my aunt n' uncle's place, they generally have the TV running. I will invariably mute it to avoid having to hear the godawful commercials. They question me why I would do such a thing. Fucking ridiculous. I go out of my way to avoid seeing commercials, hearing commercials, banner ads, anything that is trying to sell me something... my family seems offended when I attempt to block even a tiny amount of commercials from their lives. It's weird how different people can turn out when raised under essentially the same circumstances.
