This probably isn't quite what you had in mind, but I'm thinking about expanding it to have Miss Marple really solve the case...

Simple problem, my ass, Faith thought as she ran through the village. It was darker than she’d thought possible in England, even in as small a village as this one. Every shop was closed up tight, every house dark, and it was barely nine-thirty. She could hardly see the vampire to follow him, but since it was also extremely quiet, she could hear him just fine. He ran down the street, then turned in at another and scrabbled up and over an ivy-covered wall. Faith followed him, thinking that when she got back she was going to kill Giles.

Xander, too. Giles had told her that they’d heard of a small vampire infestation in a village in Kent and asked her to take care of it. It shouldn’t be too complicated, he’d said, just some vampires terrorizing the countryside. Faith was a bit bored, and she never minded killing vamps. She’d been about to suggest a newbie Slayer or two to come along with her, when Xander had spoken up, saying she should do just that, for safety. So of course she’d had to say she’d be going alone. Damn him.

She landed as lightly as she could, because as she’d gone over the ivy-covered wall, she’d seen that there was a light on in one of the rooms in this house, at least. It was a slightly larger house than the others she’d run past, but the vamp didn’t seem interested; he ran straight through the yard and through a gate on the opposite side. Faith put on a burst of speed and caught up to him before the gate had time to swing closed. She knocked him over, and the fight was quick and easy. He really had been a garden-variety vamp, which was what made this whole thing so weird. Well, one of the things. As she stood there, catching her breath, with the vamp dust dropping to the ground, she realized that there was someone watching her. She looked over a short fence into the garden of the next house and saw a little old lady standing there, her eyes wide.

“Fuck,” Faith said, and saw the old woman flinch. “Sorry,” she added, trying her best to look innocent. “Did you happen to see where that man went? He took my wallet.” It was a shit story, but it was the best she could come up with; she’d never been good at this.

“Oh, my dear,” the old woman said. “One must be practical, even when confronted with fantastical things, mustn’t one? It seems to me that you have just killed a vampire. Would you like to come inside and tell me about it?”

Ha, no, this is great! And about one of the most unlikely meet-ups you could think of. Thanks! :-)
