Do you know why you Christians can’t understand your God? Because you can’t understand that forgiveness is free. You have to work for it, yes, and abide by the rules, yes, but essentially free. You can’t pay for it and you can’t give something better back. I mean, your God tried everything else with you, and it all failed, so what other choice did your God have? So your God said, "I forgive you."
The point behind your Jesus wasn't saving you from some unnamed evil entity. He was given to you to save you from yourselves. You can commemorate the day all you like, and couch each other in presents until nobody can breathe, but all it’s really about is forgiving one another and - since you are incapable of doing so the whole year through - being awesome to each other for just one day.
I don’t believe one speck of your religion, but this idea is my gift to you.
