I have the most bizarre collection of music, and there is no way to categorize it. I'm just nuts.
Anyway, this morning I popped an MP3 disk into the computer to help with the manipulation of a few thousand lines of data, and I typically just plop them in and hit "Now Playing" in the dreaded Microsith product, Windows Media Player (I am heavily limited at work). First thing to come on the playlist, Don Williams - 20 Greatest Hits. :O
Now, I love Don Williams. His voice is like pure maple syrup, just sweet enough and not too thick. However, I have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to him. And I am FAR from that frame right now. It actually made me a little nauseous to listen to the first 2 tracks. Finally, I skipped to the next album on the disk; "Elvis Meets Presley." Ahhhhhhhhhh
Can't tell you why... Maybe it was being raised on the stuff by my mother the rabid Elvis fan... But it is ALWAYS the right time for Elvis!
This particular album is all alternate takes of some fantastic songs. It also includes the first edited duet between Elvis and Lisa Marie; "Don't Cry Daddy." It's not as good as the "In The Ghetto" that was released last year, but it gets the point across. However, I think my favorite overall track has to be "In Your Arms." But to also hear the professionalism and process that he went through to record some amazing (and little known) songs is the real bonus of this album. I highly recommend it for any Elvis fan.
And the next album on the disk... Ani DiFranco - Evolve. Don't ask, really, it would take too long to explain. LOL
ETA: DAMN! Listening to him work on "Fever" I think I can finally understand my mother's fascination with this man... I think I just melted.
