File under D for Dumb Ass
So last night after barely escaping with my sanity from the viewing of Kingdom of Heaven, I returned to my car to find my Monsoon headunit without power. At first I thought it might have to do with my installation of my rocking Phatbox, but after confirming it had power and unhooking the harness I was still without car audio. I checked the forums and they said to either try fuse 42 or pull the headunit. Pulling the headunit requires special tools which I do not have so I tried the fuse and no pez. I double checked all my fuses and gave up for the night.
This morning my car wouldn't start, and I was figuring it had to do with an electrical short involving the headunit. I called AAA and the guy tried to jump the car but then discovered I was receiving plenty of power but no fuel. He then said it's "probably a fuse". I immediately called VW's Roadside assistance and booked a ticket for them to come out and tow me only to find 2 minutes later that I in trying to fix the headunit plugged in the fuel pump fuse one slot below where it should have been. I put it back and the car purred to life with its usual smoothness.
Headunit still not turning on but I still feel like a dumb ass for making myself late for work and having to call AAA.
