Time passes like *Whoa*

So obviously I've been crap about posting here. I've actually been spending less time online all together, which isn't a bad thing. Now I just need to spend a little more time cleaning the house :)

Many already know, but I've been working a gazillion hours since November, between both the vet and Sonoma. Back in May, Sonoma did finally hire a full-time keyholder, which was the position I was hoping to get. They brought somebody over from another store who had way more experience (believe me, if I had to choose between her and me, I'd have chosen her too), but they then of course filled her spot at her old store with somebody else....I never even got a shot to interview for it. My boss is still going out of her way to get me pushed forward, I still have keys, and I'm slated to be "management" tonight while we have a big corporate visit, just so I get more exposure to the high muckety mucks. We'll see how it all goes.

Health-wise, things have been....interesting. I already mentioned briefly the polyp thing. The slightly longer version is that I started having symptoms of them returning just 2 months after the first surgery, but came to the conclusion that I just wasn't going to have perfect periods forever. Each month got a little worse, a little worse, a little worse, until Jason was pushing at me to make an appointment, then last month was the final straw, and I called. The doc office got me in FAST, skipped the physical and went straight for the ultrasound. Last time there were 4 polyps, all 1-1.5cm, this time there are 3, but they are larger - doc didn't give actual size. They wanted to do surgery today, but since my boss is going to be out of town for the weekend, I'd have had to be back to work tomorrow - not even going to happen! It's now scheduled for August 24th, and I go back to work on the 29th. That should give me enough time to get things comfy again.

We finally managed to join a CSA this year! Kate, the woman who runs it, is very friendly, and actually lives on the west side of the state - she drives to our side to drop stuff off on Sundays. She does a lot of foraging, so besides the regular garden stuff, we've been getting wild greens, blackberries, dew berries, lamb's quarters, cat tails, dock....the list goes on. It's been really interesting! Unfortunately, because I've been working so freaking many hours, we're not always using up stuff like we should, which is a total shame. Some day I'll have time again. Really.

Another total time suck is baseball. Who knew even 3 years ago how involved we'd become? Jason is now the MC for the Oakland County Cruisers, which is a local Frontier League team. We are talking actual professional baseball! Of course, we work for the most screwy team ever - they have no stadium, so we've been occasionally renting Oestrike Stadium at EMU, and most of our games this year got sold to the opposing team, so we're mostly a road team this year. The management is totally whacked, and while right now we are number 1 in our division, that may change at the way things are going. We've loved working with the players, though, and talking to all 30 fans that show up at the games. Should they continue to exist, and get their stadium built, we've already been asked to take a more permanent position with the team, but I don't know that either of us are interested. We'll see what happens with the management.

The kitty load is at 5, and that is where it's staying. Poor Sid is having massive allergy issues, seem to be worse every year. I have found a drug that might just be totally doing the trick though! Of course, it's "holy shit expensive", so I'm happy to be getting it at cost, which still makes it expensive. However, if it means no asthma attacks, and he stops scratching himself bald, it's worth it. Poor guy's belly is bare, and he's got bald patches in a bunch of other spots. Wibble has finally become more social, and will actually cuddle with Jason now! That took years to get him to that point, dippy cat. Zeph is is normal cute self, but if you yell at him for something, he gets pretty darn lippy. Comes looks at you, peeps a bit, then wanders around the house peeping. Fluff....yeah. She's still the pretty plumey princess that she's always been. Lucy is settling in more and more, and while Sid and Zeph harass her, I think we've got her to a good point. Her health has been really stable, and she has her happy spots on the bed and couch.

Speaking of couches...we got a new one! Gone is the falling-apart couch with the kitty-sized hole in the side, and in is a new micro-fiber sorta-modern sectional. It's in brown and gold and orange, and is just comfy and smashing. Great to nap on :) We actually went all out and also got new tables and a new tv, so we're feeling all happy about having a grown-up living room.

I'm sure there is more, but for now....we'll call this done. I'll try to post a little more, and for those that don't already know, I'm on FB like *whoa*.
