003 [video/action]

[Yukimura seems to be a little way outside Goldenrod City, once more training his Pokemon - only this time with actual battles instead of tennis. In fact, it looks like his Eevee is about to knock out a wild Rattata. Yukimura stands nearby, arms crossed, watching the battle intently, and when it's finally over he speaks.]This time was much better, ( Read more... )

captain powers engage, training forever, just obey yukimura ok, not tennis for once

[ she doesn't catch the video recording of this, but that's because Rise's out there herself with a Flareon trotting complacently by her heels. She's stopping to watch for a minute, raising an eyebrow. ]

Another one training like it's an epic battle...?

[He notices her, looking over with a slight smile.]

Perhaps not an epic battle, but there's no reason not to take training seriously.

[ the Flareon comes to a halt beside his trainer, looking up at her, then rather curiously over at this boy and his Eevee. He'll stay put for now, though-- even if he does want to investigate. ]

I can't argue with that... [ because guiding people through dungeons and choreography and voice lessons are all serious business. ] But it can be at least a little fun, can't it?

[The little Eevee, Aya, wastes no time in wandering over to the Flareon to say hi. Yukimura glances at them, but doesn't say anything.]

Oh, I think it's very fun. Maybe we just have different ideas of what fun is?

[ hello, Aya. Pepper stays still for about .3 seconds before that fluffy tail of his starts wagging and he's going to start sniffing this little thing. To think he was once that tiny... ]

Probably! [ she admits this cheerfully. ] There was a guy who'd train his Pokémon like they were about to go off to war, but he didn't really act like it was fun for him.

[Now that he's not training, Aya doesn't seem all that disciplined. Did Pepper want his tail pounced on? No? Too bad.]

War? Well, I'd like to think I don't go that far. But I've always thought training could be fun in its own way, as long as you're dedicated to what you do.

[ hope you don't mind getting pounced on yourself, Aya. ]

It gets pretty tiring sometimes, but you're right. Once you know what you need to do, it's fun to give it your all.

[Not at all! Yukimura glances at them to make sure they're just playing, not fighting, but otherwise he doesn't seem bothered by his energetic Eevee.]

Ah, I'm glad to find someone who agrees. I'm sorry, I don't think we've met before - I'm Yukimura Seiichi. [She looks Japanese, so he doesn't bother switching his name order as he normally would.]

[ and his guess is right, as Rise flashes him a smile. After befriending so many non-Japanese people, it's nice to settle back into that old name order. ] I'm Kujikawa Rise-- it's nice to meet you!

It's nice to meet you too. [Even though a bunch of people from his world have been showing up, it's nice to meet someone else who's probably from Japan too - even if it's not the same Japan.]

So do you think that training is fun, Kujikawa-san?

[ this one's most likely from the future, really. ]

Depends on how you go about it! [ as long as the team had known what they were doing, and they hadn't been racing through a dungeon to save someone's life, all of the Shadow-fighting had been sort of fun. And as for the non-Persona stuff... well, the Pokémon-training could be fun, too. ] Sometimes it's just plain tiring, but if you remember that even the tiring stuff pays off, I think you can make it fun.

That's very true. When you're working toward a goal, merely the striving in and of itself can be rewarding. Though of course, the goal isn't exactly useless - most people need them to have something to work toward. [Yukimura is a big believer in discipline and hard work. Also winning. He definitely believes in winning.]

[ Rise's more playful, though once she's got things she needs to do, she pretty much throws herself into it. ]

As long as you know what you need to do, you'll be okay. And training for something just makes you want to try even harder, like you said.

You're out here training as well, then? Have you been here for some time? In this world, I mean. I feel like new people arrive so often, it's always interesting to meet someone who's stayed for awhile.

[ this? This is Rise's "YOU HAVE NO IDEA" LOOK. ]

Eleven months.

[And that gets an almost shocked look from Yukimura.]

Eleven months? That's amazing. I don't think I've met anyone else who's been here so long. Don't you miss your home?
