Should auld acquaintence be forgot...

"Minimum security prison is nicer than where I live; that's the saddest thing I've ever heard."

In the words of one of my favorite ladies, it's been a pretty good year. Visited Kaua`i, fell in love, graduated from college, drove across the country, got the band back together and played a lot of shows, went back to Honolulu and had a marvelous vacation, got a new job (I'm at Concord Hospital now), and now, to finish things perfectly, E is arriving tonight and staying in New England for the next year. I lost twenty-five pounds since January, I became a vegetarian, and I wrote nearly twenty songs in 2005. All in all, I'd say it went quite well. So now, at the brink of the new year, let me look ahead to what I hope to accomplish.

To Do List 2k6:

1) Spend lots of time with E in Boston and around New England. She and I have plans to take mini-vacations at B&Bs in Vermont, drive up the Maine coast, and spend the occasional weekend in NYC to catch a show. I'm really very excited about this development in our relationship, and I can't wait to be around her again.

2) The new LFI record. I know, I know, we haven't released anything new in about two years, so it's a long time coming. We're going to be getting into the studio starting in January, bouncing between a few engineers through until March. Right now we are tenatively planning an EP release for the Emergenza show on February 18th at the Middle East. We're talking with a couple of actual labels who may distribute it, so check your local stores.

3) Travel to Europe. E & I are playing with some ideas for Spring Break, trying to go to the UK via Iceland, then travel by train to Paris. Nothing set in stone, but I would love to make that happen.

4) Work on learning a new language. Either Chinese or Japanese. I'll continue my studies in Auckland.

5) Play way more shows. This year was pretty great when it came to playing shows (I think we got in about twenty gigs since the end of August), but I'm ready to go full gear with LFI. We've already got five or six shows booked for '06 already with many more to come.

6) Read "On the Roads of the Winds," "The Bounty," "Notes From the Underground" (again), and "Birth of the Clinic."

7) Save lots and lots of money for Auckland and pay down my loans. This new job will do wonders for that.

8) Lose another five pounds.

9) Spend time with the family. It's tough because everyone works or goes to school, but I'd really like to get quality time in before the move.

10) Learn to blacksmith.

So now I'll leave you to make merry with your year's end. I'll be in Boston whooping it up with E. Hope you kids had as much fun as I did.

"Drinks all around, let's all drink to being freedom bound."

Observe:
-Happy New Year.
