Help! I'm going crazy trying to find a particular story
For the life of me, not to mention hours of searching with google and random pokes at Archive of our Own, I cannot remember the name of the story I want. I know it is long, that it features at a minimum, Jensen, his sister, his niece, Cougar, and at least one huge white dog. It is set in a bare wasteland of ice and snow, where bad folks go around and kill and steal from settlements. Jake and his sister are two of the only humans left who can fix technology. Jake and his niece are traveling to another settlement when they run into the bad guys and Jake takes the wounded guy who didn't shoot his niece home with him to the disapproval of most folks (at least at first).
