DADT Losers Pride Comment Party and
shotboxer's prompt. Can I get a comment fic where someone outside the team (Gen. Coleman? Some SF buddy?) specifically comes to wake up the Losers and give them the news because said person has known they're all queer for years now and what this will mean for them. Bonus points if said friend/colleague throws them a big party in which they find out that like the whole base has been rooting for DADT to be repealed and is really happy for them and they had no idea.
Dammit, I totally forgot about those bonus points. XD
General Coleman was among the first to know about the repeal. He had a friend in one of the senators from Tennessee, his home state. He took a small detour from his normal routine to make a phone call to a number that didn't exist. Jake Jensen's upgraded cell phone was far more secure then even an encrypted satellite phone, and only ten people in the world had the number.
Coleman sat as his desk and dialed the eighteen digit number, watching people through the window's of his office. Some frowned as they walked by, no doubt upset by the change that was about to overtake them. Some were running, no doubt they had people to tell. Some had no change in their daily mannerisms, which either meant they didn't care, or they didn't want anyone to know how they felt about the repeal.
Jensen picked up after the eighth ring and Coleman had the good nature to wince a little at the sound of his voice as he demanded to know who the hell was calling him at this godforsaken hour. The time difference for the other end of the world was quite high.
“Corporal Jensen, this is General Coleman.”
“...Sir. Good morning. Let me get Clay for you. Cougs, you seen my boxers? Shit, sorry General, you didn't hear that.” Coleman's lips twitched at the sounds of Jensen pulling on various articles of clothing. It was no secret to him that out of everyone on the unit, only Pooch had a steady go-to woman that he'd finally taken the time to marry. “Clay.......Clay wake up. Coleman's on the phone.”
What does he want?
“I don't know. General, what would you like to speak with Clay about?”
“Tell him DADT has been repealed.” There was a loud crash and then Jensen was swearing.
“Sorry sorry, I dropped my phone. Was I hallucinating or did you just say what I think you just said?”
“You heard me right the first time son. It's been repealed.”
“Holy shit. CLAY WAKE UP RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.”
What the hell is the matter with you Jensen. Some of us are trying to sleep
“DADT was repealed, Clay. It's gone. Holy shit I have to tell Cougs, here, you talk to Coleman.” There was a scuffle and then Clay's slightly embarrassed voice came on the other end.
“Uhh...good morning General.”
“You can go back to bed Colonel. I was just passing on the good news. Tell Roque I said hi.” Coleman hung up before Clay could start sputtering that it wasn't like that. He leaned back in his chair and grinned, rubbing his hands together. He had a few other calls to make before he clocked out for the day.
