Summary: Darren tells Chris that the marriage equality bill has passed in New York.

Darren pounded loudly on Chris's door, not caring that the occupants of the rest of the rooms in this hotel's hallway could probably hear the noise loud and clear. Most of the floor consisted of the Glee cast, anyway, and the members of the cast (except for Chris) were all notorious for being awake at all odd hours of the night.

After a couple seconds of vigorous knocking, the door finally opened.

"Darren I swear to god you better have a good reason for waking me up because I don't even know what time it is but-"

Darren ignored Chris's grumpy, tired rambling and enveloped him in a fierce hug.

"It passed, Chris!" he exclaimed loudly.

Darren let go of Chris and stepped fully inside his room, closing the door behind him in order to avoid starting a commotion in the hallway.

Chris stared at him for a minute.

"Darren. You lost me already. What are we talking about?"

Darren just smiled and excitedly began speaking.

"The marriage equality bill in New York! It passed! The Senate voted on it, and it went through, and they lit up the Empire State building in rainbow colored lights and there were parties in the street and everything, it's official!"

Chris's mouth widened in surprise.

"Are you - are you serious?"

"I wouldn't joke about this, Chris. It's amazing. It's historical. It's the start of something huge."

"Oh my god," Chris breathed out quietly, unable to formulate any coherent thoughts, "I can… I can get married there someday…"

Darren grabbed Chris and pulled him into yet another tight hug.

"I know! It's so amazing! After all this Glee stuff is over, you can go to New York and be on Broadway, or keep writing screenplays, or write more novels, or do ten things at once cause you're so good at everything, and then you can find the perfect guy and then you can get married and the entire city will shut down because Christopher Fucking Colfer will be getting married and nothing else will matter because it will be the greatest thing in the world!... and hey, maybe we'll still be really good friends, and, y'know, I can actually be there for it. Or in it. Or whatever," Darren finished sheepishly.

Chris pulled out of Darren's hug a bit and raised a quizzical eyebrow.

"And what makes you so sure you'll be in my wedding?"

Darren's smile fell a little bit and he began to backtrack, "Well - I mean - I just-"

Chris laughed and pulled Darren back into a hug.

"I'm just kidding, Dare, of course you're going to be in my wedding…"

Chris felt Darren relax, and continued quietly.

"…I'm going to need someone to be my best man, after all."
