Being sick has its advantages: everything slows down, sentences become very simple, there is time to post on LJ, garlic soup and ginger tea are in steady supply, and I get to read a lot. On the other hand, the kids are making fun of my strangely deep voice and spaced-out mutterings, and I'm watching way too much footage of the devastation in Japan on the BBC news site. It has affected me deeply, and my heart goes out to all those who have lost so much. Of course, as we all must, I go on with my own life, feeling extremely grateful for all that I have, and at the same time feeling a deep connection to the people of Japan and to the rest of the world as well.
And since my brain is too encased in cotton to be of any use, I'll just post a photo of my kids and me on a recent cross country ski day up at Mt. Hood.
