The Trip

Staring out the glass window, I can see the darkened day in almost complete clarity. The clouds have gathered for the spring reunion and have blocked out the sun. As a car of a no doubt late student speeds along the school parking lot, the wind gently caresses the evergreen leaves, causing the trees to sway lightly as if just waking from a deep peaceful slumber.
While the boorish teacher drones on in his lesson, the world on the other side of the cold window is calling to me.
Far past the well kept lawns and cold hollow buildings, I feel myself flying. My head makes contact with the window, or at least it should. I open my eyes to see my body flowing through the window as if it was a liquid, and shudder as it engulfs me.
I’m flying past the concrete, through a steel tower used for who knows what, and over the forest.
A deep rumble erupts from the sky when the rain finally comes.
Feelings of pure ecstasy flood my brain in tremors while the sky explodes around me, the cold rain drenching my body and rolling off my skin. Finally, I can touch the sky.
Finally I can be free.
When my astral body finally is pulled from the air, I slowly lower into a solitary graveyard.
My back gently connects with the tall grass and I know that I am home at last.
The grasses tall tendrils ripple around me as if possessed by the ghost of each year past, lightly gliding over my bare chest.
Hooded figures emerge from the forest around me, each wearing the same dark green robes.
They are unusual yet I cannot fear them.
I take their hands as they recite something in an ancient tongue.
Strangely, I find myself chanting along with them. Words fill my mouth like the sweetest nectar and flow off my tongue in perfect unison with the others.
I belong here
They hand me a robe and once I put it on, everything becomes clear.
We disappear into the wood and become one with our mother

Earth

Darkness

My eyes slowly open to greet overwhelming darkness.
My eyes dart around the void before me, searching for anything to show direction.
All that can be seen is crimson light far off in the distance.
Lacking thought, I walk towards it in an unmoving trance.
The light grows larger and shoots up into the darkness like an immense oak.
Out of the base of the mass erupts colors of such beauty, they put the human spectrum to shame.
Blues finer then sapphire, orange more elegant than the sunset across plains, black darker than night, and finally white more pure than the finest ivory.
Fine yellow wheat stalks grow quick and tall all around me, ripples swarming through it caused by the almost transparent ocean blue wind flowing from the beauteous mass of color in the distance.
I feel myself slowly dropping into the thick stalks of wheat around me.
My body completely relaxes as the warm earth meets my body.
The rich brown soil envelops me and I’m submerged as if into water.
After a moment spent rolling around in the snow-like earth, I’m met with new warmth, and can breathe once again.
The tar built up over a lifetime of smoking has been washed out of my system, the overwhelming cancer has receded.
A bubbling sensation sweeps across my skin as the soil retreats from my body.
I return to my feet, gazing across the vast paradise before me.
The wheat fields I have been laying in have matured further into golden tints, and in the distance I see an ocean. The wind gently pulls me toward the crystal expanse of water. Seeking to further explore my surroundings, I head in the direction of its cool waters.
It isn’t until I come upon the shore that I realize my clothes are gone. Unmoved by this strange realization, I stare at the crashing waves. I turn to look down the beach, along the everlasting sands.
I see a figure moving toward me made entirely of sand, in the shape of a human girl. As this organism moves toward me, sand falls from it and by the time it reaches me; I see what was once my first love.
This pure, beautiful girl who was taken long before her time met me in a warm embrace, this moving reunion brought tears to my eyes. Once more, I gazed upon her perfect blue eyes, her lovely yellow hair that could easily out shine the sun.

She took my hand without speaking and gestured for me to follow her. She led me away from the beach, across the golden fields, into gorgeous green forests and finally to the edge of this world that we knew.
All was black at this edge but for the vast hole from which all color flowed. Smiling, my past love kissed me and led me into this rip in our world.
But I can tell you this: even for a sinful man such as myself, everlasting bliss exists in the form of the one I love.
So now comes the time that I must leave you, but do not cry my son,
for every man joins again together, forever our time has come
