Peaches n' Cream - Welcome to the official Mattel site for Barbie Collector As I said in a recent post, I never really got into Barbie unless my other toys needed a hostage. There was one however that was so spectacular and special to me, that I kept her in an antique display case with my collection of porcelin dolls. She was the Peaches n' Cream edition.
I treasured my doll collection- more so than any other of my toys. Even if i couldn't play with them; even if all they could do was stare at me from behind the glass, they were the most beautiful possesions I had. My father traveled the world will he was in the Navy. He sent me a different porcelin doll and/or music box from every place he visited. I had dolls from Russia, Holland, Spain, Italy, Asia- dolls from every part of the globe! They were my reminders that he hadn't forgot about me. They meant so much!
Peaches n' Cream Barbie was amoung the dolls that my dad got for me. Though it wasn't porcelin, it was a popular special edition that he happened upon and he wanted me to have it. That Barbie became just as royal to me as my porcelin dolls!
What became of all my dolls? Guess! My mother!!!!!! They vanished after a house my mother was renting caught on fire. She's given me 4 different stories as to how my dolls- along wiyh the display case- dissapeared.
1- They were so smoke damaged, they couldn't be salvaged. That only indicated to me they ended up in the trash.
2- They were in storage and were auctioned off because I couldn't afford the bill
3- They were in the storage area of an apartment complex we were living in. Someone broke in to the storage room and stole everything.
4- My uncle stole them and sold them for his own greedy finacial gain.
*sigh* Even the music boxes were gone. Oh well. I found this website with my Barbie's picture. Now I can look at it every now and then and remember something that meant a lot to me.
