Read the Sign Damn It!!!
I was driving down the road recently and saw a sign that said "_____ for Coroner. For a Bright and New Begining." Don't ask me why, but I just couldn't help but smirk at this one. I just have a hard time relating the words "bright", "new" and "begining" to the word "coroner."
Anyway, having said that, I would like to talk more about signs... and how your average person FAILS to read them. I'm going to give you an example that comes to mind.
I'll go back 12 years ago when I worked at Taco Bell. There was a side door that was open during the day, but locked after dark in hopes of preventing a robbery. Now, whenever we locked this door, we posted a sign on it with BIG letters that said "PLEASE USE FRONT DOOR". You would not believe how many people would still try and open this door... and then several more times (as if expecting a different result). Some would beat on the glass. Some would come in through the front door and complain saying they thought we had closed early. Others would be even stupider and say stuff like "Hey, did you know your side door won't open?" The sign was in big bold letters... just as plain as day...
I have seen countless examples of America's total LACK of observation and reading skills throughout the years and I often wonder how it's even possible for our traffic system to work considering it's all directed by signals and... you guessed it... SIGNS! I'm afraid I just don't get it. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
