Stupid users...

I just got yelled at by a user. Usually I'm pretty safe from that kinda thing here. She had valid frustrations (she needs to make lots of email lists, and we don't have a company-wide one like we used to when we used Exchange. Combine that with a quite high staff turnover rate lately and a marketing-mandated [and in my opinion quite useless] change in our domain name, which not everyone has been converted to yet and I can certainly see where she's coming from) and she acknowledged that there was nothing I could do about it, but it still sucks ass when people vent their frustrations on you and try to hold you accountable for and explain some fairly nonsensical company policies that you actually fought. I actually did manage to get my hands on an unrefined and incomplete email list for her that should help a great deal, but I'm betting she still sends a complaint about us to those higher up on the food chain. Not any kind of problem for me job security-wise or anything, but still, I like my sterling reputation, thank you very much. Hell, she wouldn't even listen when I explained how to determine someone's email address, or why people having 2 email addresses listed isn't a problem (they both go to exactly the same place). She just talked right over me. Clearly she didn't want any help actually solving the problem, she just wanted to bitch.

Feh, and now I've bitched at all of you and so feel better. ;-) At least I don't have to deal with billing. I overheard a lady in the office next to me having a half hour conversation with a client who hasn't been paying her bills and expects the free therapy to continue, then goes and blames everyone but herself when it doesn't work. It sounded like a mother talking to a toddler with all the "I'm not going to argue with you about this," and "You agreed to this. How is it that you understood something different from everyone else at the meeting?" Maybe this lady didn't get talked to enough like that as a kid and it's part of the problem. Ok, I'm probably being a little harsh. Desperation can do nasty things to people, and I'm sure she really needs the therapy and honestly can't afford the bill she's already racked up. Still doesn't excuse putting the person whose job it is to tell you that through hell though.
