Woke up this morning about 6:45 am (which is about 45 min earlier than usual for me) and for a good minute or two didn't know what day it was. By the time I figured it out, I was wide awake so I went ahead and got up. Normally sunrise would have happened by now because in years past the time change was the Sat/Sun before Halloween. Since that's pushed out a week this year (some hairbrained energy saving measure??!), it was still dark. Made my coffee, fed the cats, and started to watch the slow spread of light from the living room. Thought about making my way around the outside of the house to go up into the new construction to watch this from what will be my office. Then it occurred to me that I could sit on our new porch and watch the sky. There are already two chairs out there and it's just a few steps out the front door. So I did. Had two cups of coffee and enjoyed the brisk air and morning sky until it was time for me to start to get ready for work. If we'd had the time change as usual, I would have had another hour (assuming I got up even earlier).
