(no subject)
Put my mom on a plane to go home last night. She arrived 7/31 with the rest of the family for our family reunion. Everyone else left a week later and we've enjoyed a long leisurely visit with her. But now she's gone. Tonight my dad flew in with his new girlfriend. They aren't staying at our house but we'll be visiting with them Thurs evening, Friday evening, Saturday all day and Sunday a.m. and then they fly back to California around 11am Sunday. Poor Kathy has really been a trooper through all the family visiting. Intermingled with all that was HER sister, brother-in-law, niece and grand-niece visiting for a week (not staying at our house but plenty o' visiting during that time), me gone four days to California for my 30-year high school reunion (while my mom was still here) and some good friends in town for a whirlwind weekend (again, not staying with us but we did manage to get a quickie visit in). I'm sure there were some other events happening that I've long since forgotten. August has been a hell of a month. Fun but exhausting.
Now we have signed our contract for the remodel/addition and paid the retaining fee. Hopefully we'll know Friday how the permitting process will go with the city. Our general contractor is going to try to walk through the process. If she's successful, we'll have permits and excavation could be imminent. If she's not, we could be a month or more away from starting. Crossing my fingers and toes.....
