A pleasant surprise

So one of the things I have long bemoaned in my corporate existence has been the fact that I had to take our my earrings. This made me very sad. I always had a great appreciation for the ability to wear body jewelry and make a statement against conformity. But then, in order to get a job, I had to conform, and it has and does feel at times like I have put on a mask that may at some point take over.

Well, mdhensley was recently looking at getting a new piercing, and asked my opinion about where on her ear she should get it, linking a wikipedia entry on the subject. While mulling this question over, I read through the entry on ear piercings. In there, it discusses how once the hole heals, it never goes away, and discussed the healing time for different placements. This must have stuck in my head and begun percolating, because last night, on the spur of the moment, I decided to check and see if I could still wear earrings several years later. With the help of a straight pin (don't ask me why i used that) I determined that the holes had not closed up, though they had gotten smaller. The end result of this is that I can, going forward where my earrings whenever I choose, and don't have to worry about it. Woot. Sadly, most of my earrings have been lost/ given away in the last several years, so i will have to start looking for replacements.

Oh darn.
