oh my appetite, where have you gone

So I haven't been hungry since roughly the second day I got sick last week. This is quite frustrating to me, since I've worked really hard over the last 5 or so years to become better at listening to my body when it tells me I'm hungry, and actually eating at those times. I have apparently done well enough in this that now that my appetite has fled, I am having trouble actually eating when I am not hungry. Not to mention that hunger, as I've discovered, really does improve the taste of what you eat. And I've actually found myself to be mildly nauseated by food this past week, meaning that instead of looking at food and going "oh yum, yes thank you." I find myself eating less than normal or just skipping meals. This results in my having less focus and energy and is probably impeding my recovery. But since I am not getting crabby the way I do when my blood sugar is off, part of me keeps saying that this is obviously not a big deal, even though I know logically that it is.

So right now just about every meal is a battle, where I try to make myself eat a "normal" amount, even though my normal gauge, my appetite, is on hiatus. Right now, I appear to be losing this battle more often than not. Hopefully, as my health improves, so will my appetite, making this a moot point.
